Integrating Sustainability at Every Level
For many years now sustainability issues such as environmental protection, safety and health as well as full compliance with laws and regulations have been deeply embedded in our Corporate culture and are now considered as our growth drivers.
We are convinced that our continued growth and future success depend on the intelligent way in which we integrate sustainability across everything we do, from product sourcing and product development to our continued collaboration with our principals and even, our strategic acquisitions.
Our approach to sustainability governance
At Safic-Alcan, strong governance is the foundation of our sustainability journey. We ensure that environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles are embedded in decision-making processes across all levels of the Group. Our governance framework promotes accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
To effectively integrate ESG considerations into our business operations, we have established a comprehensive ESG governance structure. This includes setting clear targets, measuring progress, and reporting on our performance with transparency and rigor.
The Executive Committee
The Executive Committee’s members carry responsibility for our environmental, social and governance policies, processes and commitments. Our CEO’s responsibilities include sustainability performance as it aligns to the corporate strategy.

The ESG department
Our ESG Department plays a central role in driving sustainability across the organization. It drives sustainability by turning commitments into actionable strategies, monitoring progress through global standards, ensuring transparent reporting, engaging internal and external stakeholders, and fostering continuous improvement across environmental, social, and governance practices.

Innovation & Sustainability Council
Safic-Alcan’s global ESG strategy is steered by our Innovation & Sustainability (I&S) Council, a cross-functional leadership body that defines and drives our sustainability ambitions. It acts as a unifying force internally, fostering alignment and collaboration across all three pillars of ESG: Innovation & Growth, Environmental Stewardship and Societal Responsibility.
This expert group works proactively to anticipate emerging challenges, drive innovation, identify areas for improvement, mobilise cross-functional teams, and implement strategic actions.

Our approach to compliance governance
At Safic-Alcan, we are committed, both on a corporate level and as individuals, to conducting all our activities in a manner that fosters sustainable and ethical business relationships. This commitment is grounded in full compliance with the laws of each country in which we operate, as well as the standards relevant to our industries.
To strengthen our compliance program, Safic-Alcan has established a cross-disciplinary Compliance Committee. This committee brings together experts from Legal, ESG, HR, Finance, and Quality departments. It oversees adherence to ethical standards and regulatory requirements to support risk management and ensure integrity across all business activities.
We adhere to international standards and internal policies that guide our actions on ESG. These policies ensure consistency and integrity in our ESG commitments.
Our Code of Conduct
Our Code of Conduct is a direct expression of our values. It sets the standard for ethical behaviour across our teams and defines the principles that guide our actions. It encompasses the fundamental requirements for Safic-Alcan’s overall business activities in fields such as ethics, labour and human rights and the environment. Every Safic-Alcan employee is expected to understand and apply this code, in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Our Third-Party Code of Conduct
We believe that ethical practices must extend across our entire value chain. Safic-Alcan developed a Third-Party Code of Conduct to ensure that our Suppliers are aware of our expectations. It focuses on respect of human rights standards, environmental stewardship and ethics, and is aligned with the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact. We expect all our partners to uphold these standards in their operations and interactions.

How to report a concern?
At Safic-Alcan, we believe that transparency, integrity, and accountability are the foundations of our success.
We are committed to promoting a culture in which everyone, whether working within or collaborating with Safic-Alcan, feels safe and free to speak up, ask questions or raise concerns about ethical, compliance, environmental or health and safety issues or other misconduct without fear of reprisal.
To support this commitment, we have established a “Report concerns” channel. This platform allows anonymous reporting of concerns related to unethical behaviour or compliance violations by Safic-Alcan employees.
Monitoring and Reporting
Transparency drives progress. That’s why we actively monitor, document, and publish our environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance. Safic-Alcan tracks ESG performance through recognized frameworks such as EcoVadis and CDP, ensuring transparency and benchmarking against global best practices.
