Leadership Profile

Dr. Matthias Pfaffernoschke serves as Managing Director for Central and Eastern Europe at Safic-Alcan, overseeing the Group’s activities across the region and driving strategic development, performance and organisational alignment. He joined the Executive Committee in January 2025, bringing a strong combination of technical depth, international experience and business leadership.

Prior to this appointment, Matthias was Managing Director for the DACH region at Safic-Alcan Deutschland GmbH and Safic-Alcan Switzerland AG. He joined Safic-Alcan in Germany in 2019 as Head of Sales – Performance Products, where he contributed to strengthening commercial execution and regional performance.

Before joining Safic-Alcan, Matthias built a broad career across product development, technical service and sales & marketing roles within the chemical industry. He began his professional journey at the lab bench in the printing inks industry at SICPA, before spending more than 15 years at AkzoNobel / National Starch (now Nouryon) and Synthomer, managing global businesses in Personal Care, Home & Industrial Ingredients and Coatings. His career has taken him to Germany, Switzerland and Sweden, reinforcing his international and cross-market perspective.

A native of Berlin, Matthias holds a degree in Polymer Chemistry from the Technical University of Berlin and an MBA from SBS – Swiss Business School in Zurich. Outside of work, he enjoys rowing on the waters around Berlin, running and reading.
