Product Manager – Performance Products (Coatings)

Luc Nonneman is a Product Manager within the Performance Products division, specialising in coatings. After completing his studies in chemistry, he began his career in the paints industry, developing products for industrial and automotive applications, before moving into product management with a growing focus on sustainability.

In 2000, Luc joined Necarbo (now Safic-Alcan Necarbo) as a Technical Product Manager. The diversity of the role, the positive working environment and the international scope of the organisation immediately resonated with him and have shaped his long-term career within the Group.

Collaboration built on trust

Luc values Safic-Alcan’s culture of open communication and collaboration, where sharing information and supporting one another are essential to achieving common goals. This mindset extends beyond internal teams to partners and principals, with whom he maintains close and transparent working relationships.

For customers, Luc acts as a technical reference, particularly for Safic-Alcan branded products within the Performance division. Drawing on his application and formulation expertise, he supports customers in identifying the most appropriate solutions, helping to build long-term, trust-based partnerships.

Sustainability driven by expertise

Sustainability plays a central role in Luc’s daily work. Product selection and development are guided by continuous efforts to improve the environmental profile of polymers and pigment preparations. This includes reducing hazardous solvents, expanding water-based solutions and limiting environmentally harmful components.

These commitments are supported by practical work carried out in the application laboratory in Beverwijk, where technical data and formulation results directly inform customer recommendations and project development.

Life beyond work

Outside of work, Luc is passionate about running and trains regularly with his local athletics club. Living near the coast, he enjoys spending weekends running in the Kennemer dunes nature reserve, using time in nature as a way to recharge and maintain balance.

He also particularly enjoys participating in internal training sessions at the Beverwijk lab, where hands-on workshops combine technical depth with strong team spirit and shared enthusiasm.
