General Manager – Safic-Alcan Italia
Giorgio Gussoni joined Safic-Alcan Italia in October 1999, at a time when the subsidiary operated exclusively in the rubber industry with a small team. More than two decades later, he has been appointed General Manager, following a career built entirely within the company and closely tied to the development of Safic-Alcan Italia.
Originally trained in a laboratory environment, Giorgio joined Safic-Alcan seeking more interaction and responsibility. He started in technical sales, translating technical documentation, preparing samples and supporting commercial activities—gaining a hands-on understanding of both products and customers.
Growing with the company
Throughout his career, Giorgio has witnessed—and actively contributed to—the diversification of Safic-Alcan Italia. From its roots in rubber, the subsidiary expanded into polyurethanes, adhesives, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, later strengthening its presence through strategic acquisitions in cosmetics and food ingredients.
This diversification was accompanied by significant growth in both team size and business volume, reinforcing the subsidiary’s credibility and market position in Italy.

From technical sales to leadership
Over the years, Giorgio took on increasing responsibilities, including leading the polyurethane and epoxy resin activities, before being promoted to Sales Manager for the Rubber division in 2010. Under his leadership, the division experienced strong and sustained growth, driven by close relationships with customers and suppliers.
His appointment as General Manager reflects Safic-Alcan’s commitment to internal talent development, long-term trust and merit-based progression.

Looking ahead
Deeply attached to the rubber industry where his career began, Giorgio remains convinced of its relevance and resilience. As General Manager, his ambition is to consolidate Safic-Alcan Italia’s strong positions in rubber and cosmetics, while accelerating development in pharmaceuticals, food and nutraceuticals.
For him, this means continuing to invest in people, strengthening expertise across segments and preserving the Group’s culture of adaptability and entrepreneurship.
