Fahad Mouhamad: Pharmaceutical Application Lab Manager – Safic-Alcan

Fahad Mouhamad joined Safic-Alcan in February 2025 as Pharmaceutical Application Lab Manager, taking on a key role in the creation and development of the Group’s first-ever pharmaceutical application laboratory.

A graduate of EBI Engineering School, Fahad began his career as a Drug Product Formulator in the biotech industry. There, he gained solid experience in drug development, process optimisation and scale-up to production, while building a strong understanding of pharmaceutical excipients and supplier ecosystems.

When Safic-Alcan decided to build a pharmaceutical application lab from scratch, Fahad immediately saw the opportunity to contribute to a strategic shift: moving beyond a transactional role to become a technical and innovation-driven partner for customers and principals.

Building expertise through application

The pharmaceutical application lab plays a central role in accelerating development projects, supporting customers through case studies, formulation work and technical validation. Fahad’s approach is rooted in collaboration: understanding customer objectives, constraints and development timelines to deliver relevant and actionable results.

Rather than replacing partner laboratories, the lab acts as a bridge, working closely with principals’ technical teams to ensure alignment and continuity across development stages. Regular exchanges and site visits strengthen collaboration and knowledge-sharing between labs.

Supporting sales through science

For Fahad, technical expertise must be shared across teams. He strongly believes that sales teams need to understand how products behave in real-life conditions to deliver meaningful value to customers.

This is why Safic-Alcan’s sales profiles are rooted in scientific backgrounds, and why Fahad actively organises onboarding and training sessions in the pharmaceutical lab, helping teams deepen their understanding of formulations, processes and applications.

Beyond the lab: curiosity and creativity

Outside of work, Fahad channels his creativity into cooking, blending his Indian roots with cuisines from around the world — with varying (but enthusiastic) results. He also enjoys travelling, reading, hiking, video games and taking care of his orange cat.

A small but telling moment captured Safic-Alcan’s team spirit early on: after his office plant didn’t survive, colleagues filled his office with lego plants instead — a lighthearted reminder that people look after each other here.
